There was a stark reminder of the importance of fire safety the morning of June 30, when flames sparked by fireworks
seared across the Boise Foothills north of Tablerock, bearing down nearly to the Harris Ranch subdivision in East Boise. The conflagration claimed two structures, including one home, before fire crews contained it.
Firefighters receive regular training to keep their skills sharp and prevent loss of life and property. In early June, many attended the 2016 Boise Fire Symposium
, a forum where seasoned fire pros trained with locals in key areas like decision-making under stress, fire engine teams and best practices for entering a burning structure.
