The Projector: Movies opening Friday, March 11

OPENINGS

Mars Needs Moms 3D and IMAX 3D (PG)

Disney's latest installment, produced by the same team that gave us Polar Express, showcases Joan Cusack as the voice of the kidnapped mom, taken to Mars by Martians. Her 9-year-old son Milo realizes all too late that he misses and really needs his mother, prompting his attempts to rescue her back. (Edwards 9, Edwards 22)

Red Riding Hood (PG-13)

Not the age-old story of little Red going to Grandma's, only to be tricked by a wolf. This updated tale stars Valerie (Amanda Seyfried) who is torn between two men. Gary Oldman portrays Soloman, a werewolf hunter, brought in by the town to help solve the monster dilemma. (Edwards 9, Edwards 22)

Battle: Los Angeles (PG-13)

From the previews alone this action packed movie plays on many of our fears towards unfriendly E.T.'s. Aaron Eckhart and Michelle Rodriguez head up this quick paced film about the marines versus the ominous aliens in L.A. (Edwards 9, Edwards 22)

The Illusionist (PG)

Academy Award and Golden Globe Nominee for Best Animated Feature, this film was hand-drawn by Triplets of Bellville creator Sylvain Chomet. Without ever coming to celluloid fruition, this film was originally written in the 1950's by famed French film icon Jacques Tati. (The Flicks)

Cedar Rapids (R)

This well-known cast including John C. Reilly, Anne Heche and Sigourney Weaver, all help to inspire and confuse insurance agent Helms as he attends a convention in the rural Iowa town of Cedar Rapids. (The Flicks)
