Video: The Great Chicken Caper Ends With Idaho Arrest, Musical Tribute

Singer-songwriter Bob Wire is using the music of "Take Me Home, Country Roads" for his own ode to the chicken opus on YouTube.

A suspect is now behind bars, tied to the hijacking of a trailer containing 37,000 pounds of rotting chicken.

The trailer spent the better part of a month at a Missoula, Mont.. truck stop before witnesses started noticing a rancid smell and juices dripping from the truck. The trailer was the property of the Dixie River Freight Company in Nampa, which received a message from the suspect, who demanded a ransom before telling the company the whereabouts of the chicken.

The Greater Idaho Fugitive Task Force reports that it nabbed the driver, 42-year-old Christopher Hall, on Friday and was holding him on a charge of parole violation. He now also faces a possible charge of theft.

Meanwhile on Friday, the trailer with the rancid cargo was towed to a landfill, where the chicken was dumped into a pit and covered up, according to The Missoulian. And health officials were still cleaning up the truck stop, where they said there was no public health hazard.
