It's an unfortunate and not uncommon occurrence: thieves snatching packages left on doorsteps by UPS, FedEx and and postal service. But one Pacific Northwest would-be package thief didn't get away with it. Not only was he caught in the act, but his mug has been shared coast-to-coast in what has become a viral video.

Hector Martinet was working at his Spokane, Wash., home Dec. 22 when he heard some noise on his porch. Martinet grabbed his video camera and ran for the door, eventually catching up with the suspect on the street in front of Martinet's home. Martinet was shirtless and shoeless, but confronted the suspect, ordering him back to his front porch.

"Stay right there. Sit down. Sit down. Sit down or I'm going to let the dogs out," he orders the suspect on the video. "Sit down on the porch. You ain't big enough, believe me.  Sit your ass down on the porch or I'm going to lay you out in the snow."

Martinet can also be heard telling a neighbor to grab his gun while he called police. Martinet later apologized for his language, but was happy to see the suspect led away in handcuffs.

The video has been shared more than 3,000 times via Facebook and has been viewed more than 1.4 million times on Youtube.
