Rep. Reed DeMordaunt
(R-Eagle) has already announced he will step away from the Idaho House after his third term in office. DeMordaunt's wife, meanwhile, wants to keep the seat representing Legislative District 14 in western Ada County all in the family.
Gayann DeMordaunt didn't waste any time filing paperwork Monday, Feb. 29— the first day of filing with the Idaho secretary of state's office—to run for the House seat.
Reed earlier indicated he wanted to step away from politics in order to concentrate on his business, Med Management Technology. Gayann has served on the executive board of the Ada County Republicans, is a current member of the Idaho Public Charter School Commission and is a founder of the North Star Charter School.
Among Gayann's challengers in the GOP primary will be Douglas Jones, who served in the Idaho House from 1985 to 2005.
