Intermountain West travelers received a surprising message when they walked into the Boise Airport
early Saturday: They were told flights in and out of Denver International Airport had been canceled due to snow. Flights on Southwest and United between Boise and Denver
have been canceled until Saturday evening.
The Denver Post reports
that, before sunrise, more than 450 flights had been canceled by United Airlines which uses Denver International Airport as one of its major hubs. Up to four feet of snow was expected to fall in the Colorado mountains before Monday, according to the Post
. The Associated Press reports
skiers were anxious to take advantage of some late-season runs at Colorado resorts. Unfortunately, accidents and poor visibility caused portions of major interstates around Colorado to be shut down.
The edge of that same spring storm swept through Idaho late Friday with high winds whipping the Treasure Valley, sending overnight temperatures to near freezing but bringing abundant sunshine for the weekend. According to the National Weather Service
, temperatures around Boise should warm up considerably, with highs in the upper 70s expected by mid week.
