UPDATE: Coroner Says Body Found in New York Canal Friday Is Boise Woman, Missing for Nearly a Week

UPDATE: Oct. 7, 2016 4 pm.

The Ada County Coroner has identified the body of a woman discovered Friday morning in the New York Canal as 37-year-old Melissa Mariscal of Boise. 

Boise Police detectives said they had been investigating the disappearance of Mariscal, who had not been seen since leaving her home on October 1st. No foul play is suspected and the investigation continues.

The Ada County coroner was notified early Friday morning that the body of a woman had been discovered in the New York Canal southwest of Boise.

The Boise Fire Department dive team and Ada County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call from a citizen who spotted the body floating in the canal near Cole and Maple Grove roads just before 9 a.m.

No word yet on the woman's age, identity, cause of death or whether foul play was suspected.
