Since Dennis Kucinich was denied a seat at the last debate, the reasoning has brought up some fundamental questions about the power of the media (http://www.commondreams.org/archive/2008/01/24/6603/) and the election of a president.
In this piece Kucinich talks about all that and Amy Goodman from DemocracyNow lets Kucinich answer the questions from the debate (http://www.democracynow.org/2008/1/16/breaking_the_sound_barrier_democracy_now) in the same format as Hillary, Obama and Edwards were made to do.. Also their answers are posted...
“…It goes right to the question of democratic governance, whether a broadcast network can choose who the candidates will be based on their narrow concerns, because they’ve contributed—GE, NBC and Raytheon, another one of GE’s property, have all contributed substantially to Democratic candidates who were in the debate. And the fact of the matter is, with GE building nuclear power plants, they have a vested interest in Yucca Mountain in Nevada being kept open; with GE being involved with Raytheon, another defense contractor, they have an interest in war continuing. So NBC ends up being their propaganda arm to be able to advance their economic interests….”

Can someone tell me why NBC changed the democratic debate rules from the top 4 to the top 3 after Kucinich came along, but they are having 5 canidates for the republican debate?

Sad to see a person who tells the truth weeded out for no support...
Whereas the a**hole who lies all the time wins the Presidency.
What a wacky system for "electing" our leaders.
We all know it's a farce.
Sorry Dennis, you are the heart of classic liberalism, but you could not be allowed to win. Support and money was withheld.
Nobody else comes close to having any guts like you did and do have.:(

Because Dennis has no support while each of the republicans has some?

He was number four in the polls.
But they only allowed the top three upon changing the rules after Richardson dropped out.
So why not just the top 3 repubs then instead of five? That is the question I was asking...

well he is officially dropping out tomorrow... Bummer...
Bummer, you are correct. We are seeing the exit of one of the last damn near honest politicians....Unlike the old herd of Republican combover contestants, Dennis has hair.

Come on...you only have three candidates and only two of them get to significant double digits. Kucinich has all the support of .....Ralph Nader maybe.

Wel if no ever sees or hears from a candidate it doesn't help much... The media plays a big part in who gets elected. Remember this famous vote? (http://english.peopledaily.com.cn/english/200105/18/eng20010518_70368.html) Did they even know who else was running?

We all agree people who tell the truth and have convictions are weeded out by "no support" and no money.
It is the fault of the bought and paid for Main Stream Media.
What sells more commercials?
Dennis Kucinich or Britney Spears?
All the news channels are bought and paid for.
Rupert Murdoch and General Electric and a couple of others control MOST of what we see every day on the tube.
Thumbs down to anybody who might rock the boat...
