While a packed hearing room awaits the Idaho State Board of Education's verdict on Nampa Classical Academy's charter appeal, the board is poring over dozens of items—financial and procedural.

Thursday morning, the Board heard a formal presentation of college completion goals for all state institutions.

In 2010, 34 percent of Idahoans hold a college degree or certificate. The board learned that by 2020, Idaho and the United States will be the only country in the modernized world whose current generation is less educated than the previous.

Thursday, the board unanimously approved a goal to have 60 percent of Idahoans between the ages of 18 and 35 hold a college degree or certificate.
