Mining for Answers in Boise County

Posted By on Mon, Aug 16, 2010 at 1:35 PM

Representatives from a Canadian mining company are expected to meet with Boise County commissioners for the first time Monday regarding their proposed Cumo mine project.

The U.S. Forest Service has been holding a series of public meetings focusing on the environmental impact of the so-called "exploratory" mining in rural Boise County by the Mosquito Gold Mine company. If successful, Mosquito could turn the open-pit mine of copper and molybdenum into one of the largest of its kind in North America. But Boise County officials say they want to work more closely with the company to coordinate the exploration.
