Redesign Plans Unveiled for Barbacoa

Boise's Design Review Committee gave the once-over Wednesday night to updated plans in the rebuild of Parkcenter Blvd. restaurant Barbacoa.

When a fire destroyed the building Jan. 2, the restaurant's owner promised his employees that he would make immediate plans to rebuild. Though construction has already started, Wednesday evening, Robert Castoro unveiled designs for the new Barbacoa, which is being built on the site of the former location. The new incarnation has a larger "footprint," with 9,410 sq.-ft and walls as high as 29 feet. The pueblo-style architecture features terra cotta stucco, and the most significant feature is the addition of rooftop dining.

Design Review was also slated to consider construction designs for the new world headquarters of Biomark to be built at Ninth and River streets, but owners asked for a one-month delay.
