Here They Are. ExxonMobil Loads Begin Arriving in Idaho

Posted By on Fri, Oct 15, 2010 at 9:47 AM

The first ExxonMobil mega-load shipments arrived on barges at the Port of Lewiston Thursday.

These are the first of more than 200 loads shipped from South Korea, up the Columbia, Snake and Clearwater rivers. The modules, nearly 200 feet long and 30 feet tall, are so huge they must be loaded onto trailers that take up both lanes of U.S. Highway 12. If approved they'll travel across Idaho, into Montana and then up to the Kearl Oil Sands project in Alberta, Canada.

ExxonMobil is waiting to see how the Idaho Supreme Court will rule in a case of an appeal filed by ConocoPhillips and the Idaho Transportation Dept., looking to reverse a decision by 2nd Dist. Judge John Bradbury halting the shipment of four Conoco loads on U.S. 12.
