Second Worst November on Record for New Hires in Idaho

Posted By on Fri, Dec 3, 2010 at 2:14 PM

Idaho's unemployment picture soured again in November. The jobless rate jumped three-tenths of a percent to 9.4 percent, which represents 70,900 Idahoans. It's the fourth monthly increase in a row and the largest one-month jump since May 2009.

At just over 11,000, new hires across all sectors were the lowest of any November on record except 2009.

The state labor department projects that during the next several months at least 9,500 jobless workers will exhaust their current phase of extended benefits and will be unable to access any additional phases.
