Idaho Receives Nearly $1 Million in Seroquel Settlement

Posted By on Thu, Mar 10, 2011 at 3:53 PM

In one of the largest settlements of its kind, Idaho will receive nearly $1 million as part of a $68.5 million agreement with the manufacturers of Seroquel, used to treat Alzheimer's, dementia and depression.

Idaho will receive $997,000 from AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals and its parent company that resolves alleged unlawful marketing of Seroquel, used most commonly in nursing homes. The pharmaceutical giant denied the allegations but agreed to the settlement.

The total settlement is the largest ever multi-state consumer protection pharmaceuticals settlement. Idaho's share will be deposited into the state's Consumer Protection Account.
