Palin Coming to Valley County? April Fool's

Posted By on Sat, Apr 2, 2011 at 1:24 PM

An April Fool's joke from the McCall Star News had some cheering the "news" that Sarah Palin would launch her presidential campaign in Valley County on the Fourth of July. But it also had some fuming. No doubt, it has everyone buzzing.

"Sarah's Coming!" was the headline in yesterday's Star News. A full article "detailed" plans of Palin coming to a Fourth of July Tea Party rally to announce her 2012 presidential candidacy.

The story included some pretty hilarious faux-quotes:

"I will be among friends here," said Palin. "I can read from the notes from the back of my hand and no one will care."

The April Fool's article also said Palin might take time for some moose hunting, in spite of the fact that it's illegal during the summer.

Previous April Fool's jokes by the Star News included:

• 1984: Gophers were responsible for McCall City Hall sinking into the ground
• 1987: Bill Cosby had bought the Star News
• 1995: McCall city officials ordered gates across Idaho 55 to control growth
• 1999: Gold discovered at WestRock (now known as Tamarack Resort)
