Holocaust Survivors Still Fighting Insurance Companies

Posted By on Wed, Jun 1, 2011 at 2:56 PM

Generations have come and gone, but survivors of Nazi death camps are still fighting insurance companies in an effort to revive thousands of claims for Holocaust survivors and their heirs.

Today's New York Times reports that hundreds of American survivors have set off an intense lobbying campaign in Washington, but have encountered resistance from the Obama administration.

One of Idaho's foremost authorities on the Holocaust and Judaic studies is Dr. Howard Berger, approaching 30 years as a professor of history at the College of Idaho. Berger is profiled in this week's BW as he prepares for his annual pilgrimage to Israel.
