Otter Tours Flood Damage in Eastern Idaho

Posted By on Thu, Jun 9, 2011 at 11:11 AM

Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter is in eastern Idaho today, getting a firsthand look at flood damage. Otter is touring Bingham, Jefferson and Madison counties, all already under a state disaster declaration.

Sandbags, water pumps and technical assistance have already been mobilized in the region. Bill Shawyer, Idaho Bureau of Homeland Security director, said warmer temperatures will increase mountain snowpack runoff into the region's waterways and the risk of more flooding.

Otter is expected to be briefed by eastern Idaho officials today as they look toward even more flood damage in the coming weeks.
