Reactions to President Obama's Jobs Speech

Posted By on Fri, Sep 9, 2011 at 11:44 AM

Last night, President Barack Obama gave his much-hyped jobs speech in which he presented a plan to Congress to rebuild infrastructure, extend payroll tax credits and offer new tax credits to employers for hiring veterans, new employees and the long-term unemployed.

Locally, Idaho's junior U.S. Sen. Jim Risch released this statement shortly after the speech: "He said, 'our recovery will be driven not by Washington but by our businesses and workers.' I agree. We need to turn the private sector loose, remove the stranglehold of regulations, lower taxes and get the government out of the way so the private sector can create jobs.”

Boise Weekly also rounded up some social media posts to see how Americans reacted to his proposals.

If you missed the speech, you can watch it below. Reactions are after the jump.
