SuperValu to Check Out More Jobs From Idaho

Posted By on Sat, Oct 15, 2011 at 9:05 AM

More bad news from SuperValu's express lane.

It has been more than five years since the grocery chain gobbled up Albertsons, which resulted in Boise leaders flying to SuperValu's Minneapolis, Minn., headquarters, begging them to keep a strong corporate presence in the Treasure Valley. But Idaho layoffs followed, including a round of finance department redundancies in January 2010.

On Friday, SuperValu announced that it would outsource Information Technology positions from its Boise offices.

"We will ensure that once a decision is reached, those associates affected will have 30 days notice," said Mike Sieminas, a SuperValu spokesman.

SuperValu has lost nearly 50 percent of its share value on the New York Stock Exchange since this time last year. On Friday, SuperValu closed at just over $8 a share.
