Rhoades' Commutation Hearing Denied, Execution Still on Schedule

Posted By on Mon, Nov 7, 2011 at 3:15 PM

The Idaho Commission of Pardons and Parole has denied a petition for a commutation hearing submitted on behalf of Paul Rhoades, who is slated to be executed on Friday, Nov. 18. Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter received the commission's recommendation today.

Seventh District Judge Jon Shindurling issued death warrants for Rhoades on Oct. 19. Rhoades was convicted of robbery, kidnapping and murder for the 1987 death of Stacy Baldwin, a Blackfoot convenience store clerk and the 1987 robbery, kidnapping, rape and murder of Susan Michelbacher of Idaho Falls.

In this week's BW, we'll examine the details of how Idaho plans to put Rhoades to death.
