Video Preview: Christmas on Ash Street

Posted By on Mon, Dec 19, 2011 at 9:16 AM

Perhaps the best Christmas gift the City of Boise gives each winter is to swing open the doors of the Pioneer Neighborhood Community Center on Ash Street to homeless families. When the night shelters close their doors each morning, moms, dads and little ones have a safe, warm place to stay during the day. The program runs through the end of March.

Additionally, the same shelter serves as a safe, warm place for latchkey students at the end of their school day.

In Wednesday's BW, we visit the Pioneer Center as it serves a unique community. Standing on its doorstep and looking in any direction, you can spot homeless shelters, day shelters and low-income housing.
