No Holiday for State Lawmakers

Posted By on Mon, Feb 20, 2012 at 8:10 AM

This being Presidents' Day, all public schools are closed today, including Boise State. All city and county offices are closed with the exception of Caldwell and Treasure Valley libraries, and post offices are also closed.

Most state offices are closed with one big exception: the Idaho Legislature will suit up for its 43rd day of the 2012 session.

On the Senate side, lawmakers are expected to vote on a texting-while-driving ban, and a joint resolution on Idahoans' right to hunt, fish and trap.

On the House side, lawmakers will take up a joint resolution calling for the repeal of the No Child Left Behind Act and a measure that would grant counties more control to pay for preventative-care programs and case management that could help better manage health care costs of indigent individuals.
