Report: More Idahoans Obtaining Oregon Medical Marijuana Cards

This morning's Oregonian picks up a story that BW readers are well familiar with: Idahoans obtaining more Oregon medical marijuana cards.

In March 2011, we visited the 45th Parallel, a small medical marijuana shop in Ontario, Ore., to find that a number of residents of the Gem State were regularly visiting the store.

"We know of at least 500 clients that have bought property in Oregon just in the last 60 days," said the proprietor. "They don't want to break the law, so this is going to be their new home. Idaho is losing residents, there's no doubt about it."

Today's Oregonian reports that Idahoans join citizens from states across the country who make regular pilgrimages to Oregon - the only state in the country to issue medical marijuana cards to nonresidents. According to the Oregon Health Authority, nearly 600 out-of-staters have traveled to Oregon since June 2010 to obtain a medical marijuana license.
