Ultraconservative Activist Andrew Breitbart Dead

Posted By on Thu, Mar 1, 2012 at 9:02 AM

Andrew Breitbart, ultraconservative activist and author, was found dead early this morning in Los Angeles. Though Breitbart was only 43 years old, his website reported that he "passed away unexpectedly from natural causes." According to his father-in-law, Breitbart was walking near his house in Los Angeles when he collapsed.

Bretibart headlined the May 2011 Idaho Freedom Foundation's annual Freedom Celebration, attracting Idaho's top Republicans, including Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter, Lt. Gov. Brad Little, Idaho Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Luna, U.S. Rep. Raul Labrador and more than a dozen state legislators.

"I'm not as political as people think I am," Breitbart told BW. But he added that he was anxiously anticipating the 2012 presidential election to watch candidates "get pulverized. This is Survivor," he said.

Breitbart was a critic of those he called the "Democratic media alliance," including Tom Brokaw, Katie Couric and even "the ghost of Peter Jennings."

"I'm going to destroy these guys, because they are bullies," he told BW.

Breitbart is survived by his wife Susannah and four children.
