Boise Fire to Simulate Large Blaze at Boise State

Posted By on Mon, May 21, 2012 at 11:18 AM

Smoke will pour from the Towers Residence Hall building at Boise State on the morning of Tuesday, May 22.

The Boise Fire Department, working with campus officials, will conduct a unique training session on how to fight large building fires (the Towers Residence Hall is seven stories tall). Fire crews will use a simulated smoke system to create what they call "realistic conditions." Boise Fire will have four engines and two trucks on the scene.

The training will continue Wednesday, May 23, and Friday, May 25.

Officials caution that motorists driving down Capitol Boulevard this week may see smoke coming from Boise State. Signs will be posted notifying people that the smoke is part of a simulation for training purposes.
