Boise Police officers responded last night at approximately 10:30 to a call of a man with a gun reported to be "suicidal." By early this morning, the man was dead, but not by his own hand.

When members of the Ada County Critical Incident Task Force arrived at 6100 block of North Sparkford Way, they learned that the suspect had access to weapons in the home. No one else was at the home at the time of the incident. The suspect had recently moved into the home.

Preliminary reports indicated that four officers were on the scene, attempting to talk to the man, who was standing alone in his driveway with a handgun. According to a statement from Boise Police, "one officer fired one round from his service weapon when he saw the man move aggressively toward officers with a handgun. The shot hit the man in the abdomen."

The man died later at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center.

The officers on the scene are all on administrative leave. The incident is under investigation by the Ada County Critical Incident Task Force, which includes Boise, Garden City and Meridian police, Idaho State Police and the Ada County Sheriff's Office.
