A new study indicates that global cancer rates will surge by 2030, led by developing countries who are acquiring bad habits such as smoking, eating badly and not exercising. The report says that cancer rates will spike by 75 percent.

The report, appearing in the British journal The Lancet, also cautioned that developed countries will also see increases in lung, breast and colon cancers. China and India could see a rise in cancer rates by as much as 80 percent.

"Cancer is already the leading cause of death in many high-income countries and is set to become a major cause of morbidity and mortality in the next decades in every region of the world," said Freddie Bray of the International Agency for Research on Cancer.
