Sharon Ullman's Not-Too-Friendly Facebook Post About Dave Case

Posted By on Thu, Jun 28, 2012 at 9:23 AM

On June 27, Citydesk received an anonymous email that read:

"Check out Dave Case (new Ada county commish) and his unethical killing of a police officer (Idaho supreme court found it to be a total FUBAR)..."

And on June 22, outgoing Ada County Commissioner Sharon Ullman posted the following on her Facebook page:

"New Ada County Commissioner David Case a Cop Killer? On December 14, 1992, David Case and four other ISP officers assassinated a Payette County Reserve Deputy inside the Payette County Courthouse. In 1997, the Idaho Supreme Court, in a unanimous decision, found the five officers personally liable for the act."

Case defeated Ullman in the May 15 Republican primary and this November, he faces Democratic candidate Thomas Howell and independent Jon Howard for a permanent seat on the commission. Case has been appointed to fill in for retired commissioner Vern Bisterfeldt in the meantime. Simply put, Case and Ullman have to face each other each weekday at Ada County Commission meetings.

In a written statement, Case said that he didn't fire his weapon in the December 1982 incident, when he served as a State Police trooper. He added that the shooting had been justified in a follow-up inquest.

Ullman backpedaled on her own statement:

"I occasionally try to grab people's attention," wrote Ullman.
