Dive Team Boat Capsizes on Boise River During Rescue

Posted By on Sat, Jul 28, 2012 at 9:55 AM

During the rescue of two teen girls on the Boise River, the Boise Fire Dive Team raft flipped, knocking occupants back into the fast-moving water.

The girls were stranded in the river after wading out by the Veterans Memorial Park bridge. After being spotted by a Boise Police Department bike patrol, an officer and a fire crew were unable to walk out to meet the girls.

Dive team rescuers then launched a raft, reaching the girls and placing them on board before heading back toward shore. However, as the dive team pushed off from a log, the raft flipped, knocking all four occupants back into the river.

Both the girls and rescuers were wearing life preservers. They swam back to shore and reached safety. One girl was transported to a hospital for treatment.
