Terry Gestrin, who will run in place of Donnelly Republican Rep. Ken Roberts in November's general election, was appointed today to fill out the remaining four months of Roberts' term in the Idaho House of Representatives.

Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter, who appointed Roberts to the Idaho Tax Commission on July 12, handpicked Gestrin to fill the vacancy in House Seat 8A. Gestrin will face Democratic candidate Karla Miller in the general election.

Gestrin is a former Valley County commisioner and the owner of Long Valley Farm Service in Donnelly. Additionally, he spent 20 years as a volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician in Donnelly, including 12 years as fire chief.
