Sun Valley Expects to Get City Hall Audit on Aug. 20

City officials in Sun Valley have circled the date Monday, Aug. 20, on their calendars. That's the day they expect to receive a forensic audit that was ordered in the wake of City Hall allegations of misconduct and missing public documents.

This morning's Idaho Mountain Express reports that the audit, overseen by Boise-based law firm Moffatt Thomas, was initially to be completed by June 30.

"You find one thing that leads to another and so on," Sun Valley Mayor Dewayne Briscoe told the Mountain Express. "It takes time to get to the bottom of it all."

The cost of the audit, according to records obtained by the Mountain Express, has already topped $100,000.

The City of Sun Valley has been steeped in controversy, including the terminations of its city administrator, tort-claim settlements paid to the city clerk and treasurer, and the city's fire chief being placed on administrative leave.
