Early Voting Under Way for Canyon County School Levies

Posted By on Mon, Aug 13, 2012 at 9:14 AM

A number of Canyon County school officials have a lot more than curriculum on their minds; they're anxiously awaiting Tuesday, Aug. 28, when a series of supplemental levies will be decided. Beginning today, Canyon County voters in those districts can begin voting early.

Early voting is available at the Canyon County Elections Office, 1102 E. Chicago St., in Caldwell between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

In Nampa, school officials are asking voters to approve a two-year supplemental $1.6 million levy, about half the amount that voters turned down in May.

Notus is putting two 10-year levies before voters—both failed earlier in March. One levy would set aside approximately $150,000 per year for school maintenance and remodeling. Another would help fund vocational training.

Wilder voters will decide on a two-year $310,000 supplemental levy.

On March 12, voters in the Boise, Caldwell and Meridian school districts approved new levies—a five-year $70 million levy in Boise, a two-year $5.5 million levy in Caldwell, and a two-year $28 million levy in Meridian.
