Two Idaho movie theaters were inspected by police and fire officials Friday, Aug. 17, after a national bomb threat was aimed at the Carmike Cinemas chain.
The Idaho State Journal reports that police agencies across the United States were alerted when a phone call was received at Carmike Cinemas' headquarters in Chicago, threatening that a bomb had been placed at a showing of the movie The Expendables 2. The threat did not speciify a city or state.
Police agencies in Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky and North Carolina used bomb-sniffing dogs during searches.
In eastern Idaho, Chubbuck Police and Fire departments conducted sweeps of two Carmike theaters, and were given the all-clear by that evening.
