Apple Targets Samsung Phones for Sales Ban

Apple filed paperwork Monday to ban U.S. sales of eight Samsung mobile phones following Samsung's patent infringement conviction last week. The iPhone maker wants a preliminary ban on U.S. sales pending a final injunction in the case.

The request would target Samsung's Galaxy S 4G, Galaxy S2 AT&T, Galaxy S2 Skyrocket, Galaxy S2 T-Mobile, Galaxy S2 Epic 4G, Galaxy S Showcase, Galaxy Prevail and Droid Charge phones, CNet reported.

In its filing, Apple wrote that it's filing the request "to address a portion of the immediate, ongoing irreparable harm that Apple is suffering."

Last week, a jury in California found Samsung “willfully” infringed on half a dozen patents relating to Apple’s iconic iPhone and iPad. The nine-person jury ordered Samsung to pay Apple $1.05 billion in damages, but Judge Lucy Koh has the power to triple the amount because the infringements were found to be “willful.”

Samsung has vowed to contest the verdict.
