Results of Sun Valley City Hall Probe Complete, But Still Secret

A much-anticipated probe into the troubles swirling around Sun Valley City Hall is finally in the hands of elected officials, but the public isn't expected to get a look for at least two more weeks.

This morning's Idaho Mountain Express reports that the result of a forensic audit, including exhibits, were delivered to Sun Valley Mayor Dewayne Briscoe and the City Council.

Briscoe has characterized the audit as "a thorough analysis of the receiving and expending of all city funds, where everything came from and where everything is going," according to the Mountain Express.

The City of Sun Valley has been steeped in controversy, including the terminations of its city administrator, tort-claim settlements paid to the city clerk and treasurer, and the city's fire chief being placed on administrative leave.

Earlier this month, Briscoe acknowledged that the audit will reveal that his city was not in compliance with many federal and state labor laws.

Briscoe told the Mountain Express that the city must "first comply with laws protecting government employees" before the report can be made public.

To date, the City of Sun Valley has paid more than $170,000 to conduct and review the audit.
