Residents of Featherville returned to their homes Sept. 2 as fire crews removed equipment and mopped up containment lines near the residences. But more than 1,200 firefighting personnel continue to work the Trinity Ridge fire, which as of this morning has burned 145,401 acres.

Officials said the Trinity Ridge blaze is now 68 percent contained.

Crews are continuing to construct fire lines from Green Creek Lake east to Wagontown Road, and from the area near Big Roaring River Lake to the 2006 East Roaring fire scar.

Three hotshot crews are expected to attack the fire in the Sheep Creek area today. A contingency line from Thorn Creek Butte to Rabbit Creek Summit has been completed.

To date, the Trinity Ridge Fire is responsible for eight injuries and has cost $32.9 million.
