The Trinity Ridge Fire is 43 percent contained.

This morning, fire officials said 1,150 personnel are still on the scene of the Elmore County blaze, using 48 engines, five dozers, 21 water tenders and 12 helicopters. To date, the fire has cost $33.4 million.

Fire crews are continuing to prepare the Middle Fork Road for the fire's approach, while fire hotshot crews are fighting the fire directly along its western flank, in the Pete, Repeat, Big Five and Sheep creek drainages.

On the northern side, fire activity in the Weatherby and West Warrior Peak areas is being patrolled and monitored by air. Officials said the southern and eastern flanks of the fire "are looking increasingly secure."

The National Weather Service said today's weather conditions are expected to continue to be warm and dry across the fire area. Firefighters are bracing for the passage of a weak front later this afternoon. The front could trigger winds gusting to 15-20 mph from the northwest.
