Treasure Valley Air Quality Improves

Posted By on Mon, Sep 10, 2012 at 1:13 PM

After a long, smoky August, September is finally here, and with it have come 10 consecutive days of air quality in the healthy range, according to the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality.

Two incoming cold fronts—heralded by gusty winds—are blowing the dust and smoke out of the Boise area and contributing to cooler temperatures.

In August, the DEQ classified eight days as having good, or "green," air quality, but classified 23 days as having diminished air quality, including six days with air quality classified as unhealthy for sensitive groups and one day classified as unhealthy for everyone.
