Garden City officials have unveiled designs for a new pedestrian bridge—to be completed in 2013—which will link the north and south sides of the Boise River.

The $727,000 West Bridge will span the river from the Garden City Nature Path, a 1.48 mile wildlife preserve, to the Greenbelt, stretching from Boise to Eagle.

To launch the project, Garden City Mayor John Evans presented golden spikes to Bill Vaughn, planning director for the City of Eagle, and Judy Peavey-Derr, chair of the foundation for Ada-Canyon Trail Systems.
