More than 2,000 new geocache containers are being hidden throughout southwest Idaho this week.

The Mountain Home News reports that five area geochachers that live in the Treasure Valley and Mountain Home areas are distributing the cache sites, which hobbyists attempt to find using GPS devices The new distribution is expected to draw some of the nation's leaders in geochaching to the region.

"In fact, the top geocacher in the world is coming in," Ted Burgess of the League of Idaho Cachers told the News.

Many of the devices will be released Friday evening in what organizers call "geo-art," a train-like link of locations on Bureau of Land Management lands.
