Boise Bike Share Program on Tuesday City Council Agenda

Boise could be the first Northwest city of its size to launch a public bike share system, according to a presentation from the Central District Health Department slated for Tuesday's City Council meeting.

A business plan for the operation will be presented to council members during a Tuesday work session. The plan highlights funding needs, the operation's fiscal sustainability and viability of a bike share program in downtown Boise.

Phase 1 would include stations in the downtown core and Boise State campus, with a total of 140 bikes at 14 stations. Initial funds from CDHD, Capital City Development Corporation and Boise State University Transportation and Parking Services Department will help get the project rolling.

The Boise Bike Share Program, with a complete business and operations plan, will begin the next round of meetings to secure private sector funding, according to the plan.
