Passengers of Alaska Airlines are experiencing significant delays today. An airline spokeswoman said a computer problem is to blame, impacting a systemwide software outage.

According to the airline, its system went down at approximately 8:40 a.m. Mountain Time, affecting the airline's ability to check-in passengers and depart flights.

One Alaska Airline flight, originally slated to travel from Seattle and land in Boise at 10:25 a.m. was canceled, resulting in an outbound Seattle flight, originally slated for 10:55 a.m. to also be canceled.

Alaska officials say the company's IT specialists "are working to restore the system as quickly as possible."
