GOP Worker Charged With Destroying Voter Registration Forms

Colin Small, a 31-year-old man working for the Virginia Republican Party, was charged Friday with destruction of voter registration applications, disclosure of voter registration information, obstruction of justice, and 10 other counts.

Richmond, Va.'s Rockingham County Sheriff's Office brought charges after a witness claimed Small dropped a bag containing eight filled-out registration forms into a dumpster in Harrisonburg.

Small was hired by a company that helped the Republican Party of Virginia to register voters. The forms Small attempted to dispose of were returned and will be counted in the election.

However, Brian Moran, chairman of the Democratic Party of Virginia, asked the state's attorney general to investigate the incident, "in order to insure Virginians that this was not part of a larger Republican effort," according to a statement.

Pat Mullins, Republican Party of Virginia chair, said Small was immediately fired and that his party will not tolerate any employee that could threaten the integrity of the electoral process.
