  • The legendary Bigfoot, also known as Sasquatch, is supposedly an ape-like creature that inhabits forests. Though most scientists discount its existence, "sightings" continue to pop up.

Reuters reports that an Idaho State University professor is looking to raise $300,000 in order to search for Bigfoot from the sky.

Jeffrey Meldrum, ISU anatomy and anthropology professor, told Reuters that he has plans to build a remote-controlled aircraft, equip it with thermal-imaging surveillance, and catch footage of the mythical Sasquatch—which Meldrum doesn't think is mythical at all.

Author of Sasquatch: Legend Meets Science, Meldrum says Bigfoot is an animal probably descended from a giant ape that once inhabited Asia and crossed the Bering land bridge into North America.

Meldrum wants his effort, dubbed the Falcon Project, to take flight next spring to survey remote areas of the Pacific Northwest, as well as northern tiers of California and Utah.
