Zero hour of Election Night 2012 was 8 p.m. Polls had just closed in southern Idaho and an anxious throng of Idaho Democrats began filling the Boise Hotel and Conference Center. No one dared to take their eyes off of one of the many televisions continuously projecting vote updates. Possibly one of the only times onlookers willingly took a break from poll watching was for a quick trip over to the cash bar.

Behind the bar serving up drinks were bartenders Chris Alexander and Trent Hill. Both gentlemen indicated a possible trend in Democrats' beverages of choice, as wine and vodka tonics seemed to be the most popular drinks of the evening.

When asked about the overall mood of the evening thus far, Alexander referenced Idaho's Primary Night, six months ago. Alexander said that in comparison to the previous Democratic gathering in May, "Tonight, you can tell there was much more on the line." It was the understatement of the evening.

As for how the election results would affect the imbibers, both bartenders seemed to agree that regardless of who was elected, attendees where likely to throw a few more back.

"If Obama wins, they will drink to celebrate," said Alexander "If not, they'll drink to drown their sorrows."

Within the next few hours, as Obama scored an historic re-election, those in attendance at the Democratic Headquarters had few sorrows to drink to.
