Traps Removed Near River, But More Cougar Sightings Near Boise Foothills

Posted By on Thu, Nov 8, 2012 at 9:32 AM

Wildlife officials have removed snares from the shores of the Boise River west of Glenwood Street, intended to capture a cougar that had been spotted in the area. The equipment was pulled when U.S. Department of Agriculture Wildlife Services determined that the cat was no longer near that stretch of the Boise River.

Meanwhile, new cougar sightings were reported near the cemetery behind Fort Boise, in the Foothills northwest of Bogus Basin Road, and the Idaho 21 bridge northwest of Bogus Basin Road.

Wildlife officials say a cougar or cougars continue to roam the region, and if they become habituated to life around Boise, they must be killed.
