Tea Partiers to Otter: 'Majority of Idahoans' Want to Ignore Health Care Exchange

While a coalition of business leaders, including Blue Cross of Idaho, Food Producers of Idaho, the Idaho Mining Association and the Idaho Association of Commerce and Industry are all urging Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter to move forward with a state-based health insurance exchange, one organization remains steadfastly opposed: the Gem State Tea Party.

In a letter to Otter, released this morning from tea partiers, the group urges Otter to say "no" to an exchange. In fact, Gem State Tea Party insists that it has "the majority" on its side:

"Please stand by the majority of Idahoans and several other states that are ignoring [the Affordable Care Act]. Per other states' discovery, setting up Idaho's own exchange subjects citizens to many anti-liberty sections of [the ACA] that otherwise are not imposed on citizens if the federal government sets it up."

Tea partiers further question whether members of Otter's study group, which recommends that the state move forward with an exchange, "have a personal interest thus ignoring the best interests of the state and country."

Gem State Tea Party President Chad Inman wraps his letter by dubbing Obamacare as "just another example of the unending federal quest for power over our lives."
