Ada County Sued Over Latest Sweetheart Deal With Dynamis

The latest slap against wannabe waste-to-energy developer Dynamis is a lawsuit filed today challenging Ada County's latest deal to lease 10 acres near the county landfill to Dynamis.

"This project has been given a sweetheart deal by the Ada County Commission with little regard for public conern or due process," said Courtney Washburn, Idaho Conservation League community conservation director, after ICL filed the lawsuit in state court today.

ICL's petition challenges the county commissioners' Oct. 23 decision to cut the deal with Dynamis as a vioaltion of Idaho law regarding long-term leases of county property without public auction.

Dynamis is the subject of a formal investigation into whether there is enough evidence to support charges against the company and county commissioners who gave a green light to the project.

A former FBI agent has been appointed by the Ada County Sheriff's Office and Ada County Prosecutor Greg Bower to look into allegations that county commissioners broke open-meeting laws when entering into a $2 million deal with Dynamis in June 2010. The inquiry began in September.

Additionally, Hidden Hollow Energy has filed a $30 million tort claim against the county, stating that the Dynamis deal is a breach of its existing contract with the county.
