While Boise Weekly's story—which hit newsstands this morning—on the proposed square of retailers for a prime parcel of Boise real estate has more than a few folks talking about the probability of Trader Joe's finally coming to the Treasure Valley, a closer look at one of the other proposed blueprints indicates a drive-thru service connected to a modestly sized footprint (coffee anyone?).

It came as no surprise this morning that Starbucks announced it was about to blow away its competition by opening another 3,000 stores in the Americas over the next five years, boosting the number of Starbucks cafes in the Americas by more than 20 percent and in the United States by about 13 percent. Starbucks currently has more than 11,100 stores in the U.S.

Starbucks officials said this morning that the company's U.S. expansion plans were based "on the current strength of our business." Prior to this morning's announcement, Starbucks had previously indicated that it was opening 1,000 new stores in the U.S. in the near future.
