Santa's Forecast: Abundant Chances for White Christmas

Posted By on Sat, Dec 22, 2012 at 10:11 AM

With snow currently reported in 31 states, Santa is keeping the National Weather Service on his speed-dial as a major weather-maker crawls toward the Northeast United States while another storm is making its way through the Western U.S. A series of weather disturbances are expected to hit southern Oregon, much of California and western Nevada before moving into the nation's Great Basin. The systems are also expected to bring signficiant snowfall to the Sierra Nevada mountains through much of this holiday weekend.

The National Weather Service office in Boise is calling for a chance of snow above 2,900 feet tonight, with a low near freezing. A mix of rain and snow is expected again on Sunday and Christmas Eve and the Treasure Valley could see more snow showers with a low around 19 degrees. More snow showers and mostly cloudy skies are expected in Boise on Christmas Day.
